Annually, the Small Business Assistance Corporation awards the T. McCoy Cornerstone Award to someone who has achieved enduring professional excellence in the field of Administrative Assistance.
2021’s T. McCoy recipient goes to Margaret F. Fox, Deputy Clerk of Council for the City of Savannah. Margaret Fox is a seasoned professional who returned to work in order to give back to the community.
As the Deputy Clerk of Council for the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah, Margaret’s primary duties include taking notes and preparing minutes; handling the processing of ordinances, resolutions and contracts; publishing meeting notices for City Council, alcohol license applications, and zoning hearings. As if this is not enough, on any given day Margaret can be seen cleaning or sanitizing the office, passing out water, fruit, and snacks, or greeting people with a cheerful smile and a welcomed sense of humor. As a front line office in City Hall, Margaret also pitches in with answering phone calls, delivering mail or greeting City officials and residents that seek assistance. Margaret arrives to work before anyone else (at the crack of dawn) and is a great example of a professional role model.
She is a mother of two daughters and has 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
